JOB OPPORTUNITIES AT VOLUNTEER CENTRE SOUTHWARK

Active Citizenship Officer

This is a cutting edge project funded locally through the local strategic partnership, Southwark Alliance. The main aim of the project is to support, develop and nurture active citizenship within Southwark. Active citizenship includes people engaged in: Governance, managed volunteering, community activism, being community group members, view givers or good neighbours.

Currently the Active Citizens Hub supports active citizens and potential active citizens through a variety of methods including: training, advice and support, networking, information brokerage and events.

You will need to be an effective communicator with a ‘can do’ attitude and creative approach to problem solving. Working with a diverse community you will be engaging directly with active and potentially active citizens, offering support and brokerage. You will also assist in delivering our ongoing programme of training.

You will work collaboratively with other relevant bodies, in particular voluntary sector infrastructure bodies in the borough, local community forums and Southwark Council. Please see the Active Citizens section of our website for more information on the work of the project.

Full time, 36 hours per week (£23, 278 pa) based Southwark + pension and package

The closing date for applications is 10am on Thursday 10 July; Interviews are scheduled for Thursday 17 July.

Volunteer Centre Southwark actively promotes cultural diversity and equal opportunities.
